The Civic
Type R is inspired, individual and a vehicle for driving

Performance:
The thrill of the i-VTEC engine’s rising wail
as it spins to 8 000 r/min and beyond is incomparable.
The engine switches to high-rev, high-power VTEC mode
at 5 400 r/min and only stops piling on the revs when
an electronic limiter intervenes at 8 200 r/min. Maximum
power output is 148 kW, achieved at a dizzying 7 800
r/min, while the 193 Nm torque peak is reached at 5
600 r/min. Importantly, the new engine’s flat
torque curve ensures that 90 percent of the torque is
already on tap at a mere 2 500 r/min. The result is
an engine with instant responses, a smooth and linear
power curve, ample midrange urge, and excellent operating
efficiency.
